The Government of Tamil Nadu operates as a bicameral legislature within the framework of the Indian constitution. It is composed of the Governor, who acts as the ceremonial head of state, and the Chief Minister, who is the head of government and holds executive powers. The legislative assembly, Vidhan Sabha, is elected by the people and is responsible for enacting laws, while the legislative council, Vidhan Parishad, serves as a revising chamber.

The state’s administrative structure is designed to address local issues, promote development, and ensure the welfare of its citizens through various departments and initiatives. Tamil Nadu is known for its robust educational system, progressive social policies, and strong emphasis on industrial growth, making it one of India’s most developed and dynamic states.

Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute

CIIC IVP Grant Recipients: So far the total beneficiaries No. 56, Rs.159.13 lakhs

The Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII), Chennai is an apex organisation in the field of entrepreneurship education and self-employment promotion in the state of Tamil Nadu.

  • Established in 2001
  • EDII was constituted by Government of Tamil Nadu as a not-for- profit society and is administered by Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).
  • It is headed by the Director of the Institute, EDII is managed under the superintendence of a Governing Council One of the most prominent programmes offered under EDII is the Innovation Voucher Programme.

Innovation Voucher Programme

Innovation Voucher Programme is the Tamil Nadu Government’s flagship grant-in-aid scheme for supporting Start-ups and MSMEs.

We aim at

  • Promoting Research and Innovation amongst Start-ups and MSMEs.
  • Companies working at innovative research can avail grant up to Rs.5 lakhs

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the Innovation Voucher Program, applicants must:

  • Be registered startups or MSMEs in Tamil Nadu.
  • Focus on developing innovative products, services, or solutions.
  • Require support for technology validation, prototype development, or scaling.
  • Have not availed similar financial support for the same project from other government schemes
IVP is open to all manufacturing or service MSME/Startup willing to innovate and improve their business.
However, the following eligibility conditions need to be met.

StartupTN, Govt. of TamilNadu in association with Crescent Innovation & Incubation Council (CIIC) – B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology, Chennai represented state of TamilNadu state GITEX Future Stars 2021 an prestigious global event conducted under the annual mega event called GITEX Technology Week during 17th – 20th October 2021 at Dubai World Trade Center  Dubai (https://www.gitexfuturestars.com/). This programme was designed with a vision to create aspiring entrepreneurs, innovators and future leaders from the University ecosystem. Unipreneurs was one of the branding ambassador for the GITEX Future Stars 2021.

Crescent Innovation & Incubation Council (CIIC) proudly hosted the Aadukalam event in association with StartupTN on 22nd November, 2022 at B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science & Technology.
Aadukalam was exclusively for startups emerging from Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tiruvallur and Kanchipuram districts who have been given the opportunity to Pitch in front of an eminent panel, Validate their ideas and products, and obtain mentorship for their Innovative ideas.
350 participants witnessed the pitching of 10 startups from various parts of Tamil Nadu actively participated in the event and gained valuable experience in return.

Awarness Program on DPIIT Registration was organised by Crescent Innovation and Incubation Council (CIIC) in collaboration with TANSIM-StartupTN on December 23rd, 2022, at 10 AM in the Seminar Hall, CIIC.
In this session, Mr. Selvam, Project Associate, TANSIM-StartupTN, gave a briefing to startups on How to register with the Startup India portal, Dos and Don’ts during Registration, Benefits of the DPIIT Number and TANSIM-StartupTN activities.

CIIC is glad to share that we have been selected to participate as part of ‘Scale up Incubator Program’to benchmark the Innovation Ecosystem of Israel, organised by StartupTN, Govt of Tamilnadu along with Southern India Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SICCI). This delegation is lead by Mr.Arun Roy IAS, Secretary of MSME, Govt of TN and Ms.Jayashree Muralidharan IAS, MD of TIDCO, Govt of TN along with Mr.Shivarajah Ramanathan, CEO of StartupTN, Mr. MV Subramanian, Investor of July Ventures and Mr.Gopi Koteeswaran, Co Founder of Cardiac Wellness Institute.
